What suffering as we help create a spiritual Kli? The sufferings of this world "polish the flesh", or help us reach the question of why we suffer, and then to the question of what is the meaning of my life. The pain helps us to see how our body is nothing and to what extent the material life is nothing and moves us indirectly. When we discover the extent to which we are opposed to the goal, and this hurts us, then we must fix what hurts us inside, the soul broken, and this only can fix the Superior.
